However I am sure that Sainsburys used to have corned beef in round tins...I've seen it somewhere in a round tin !
Always keep a spare 'key' in the kitchen drawer - or better buy it fresh. M&S traditional lean corned beef is only 8% fat, the lowest I have ever seen, and it is brilliant. A good sized packet too (175g) so it will do 2 meals.

It's possible to open a tin of corned beef with a pair of pliers and a lot of perserverance.
I always unwind the keys after opening a tin of corner beef and save them in my kitchen cutlery drawer. It's a bit of a fag but I've been caught out too many times trying to make corned beef hash and having the tin lid jam halfway through opening. Trying to open them with a tin opener is lethal !

I never use the key on corned beef or tinned ham. I've always found that a rotary tin opener does a much better job, and the tin can be opened on both ends making it easy to push the meat out onto a plate.
A bit like the old style sardine tins - you needed a PhD to open it right to the end (which seldom happened, cos you always seemed to spiral off the key) and end up fighting to get the remainder out at the 'blocked' end !!

Still, can't beat the tinned corned beef - nice and fatty tastes better than the lean variety!

Did I say FATTY, oh dear the PC brigade will be out in force - bring it on !!!!
