Talking to my nieces student boyfriend and he mentioned he often makes tinned corned beef hash. I didn't know there was such a thing. Where would one buy it. I don't think I've ever seen it!

Hash, not Hasn!!!!

You don't buy it ready made - you make it with corned beef, potatoes, onions, Worcester sauce, etc.  Check out recipes on Google.

he probably means making Corned Beef Hash, using tinned       Corned Beef.

Sainsbury's https://www.sainsburys.co.uk/gol-ui/product/sainsburys-corned-beef-hash-400g-serves-1-?istCompanyId=1e096408-041f-4238-994e-a7cf46bf9413&;istFeedId=689af7a8-5842-4d88-be59-1ee5688a81b5&istItemId=wxwqllriw&istBid=t&&cmpid=cpc&utm_source=Google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=20333793068&utm_content=shopping&utm_term=%257Bsku%257D&utm_custom1=&utm_custom2=759-449-0952&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiA8sauBhB3EiwAruTRJim4qbcgs-TvCkuoqQtETk55jqrJXQgXjMsWx44Oh37wKwEwDAI8fxoCjTsQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

But it is very easy to make

in Scotland, its known or similar to, Stovies.

What next !! You can buy it in tins now. Just google, but as moorea7 says just make it yourself. It's easy !

Question Author

Yes I'm well aware of that. I asked where you could buy it because that's what he does. I have no intention of doing anything  other than making my own.

Question Author

My answer was to Moorea7.

My late surrogate gran used to make it, and was delicious, being honest though I wouldn't know where to start cooking it.

Question Author

Thanks lankeela , that seems to be what he's talking about. Bit pricey for a student I would have thought,

Did he mean that he makes corned beef hash using tinned corn beef (which I think is probably the most likely) or did he actually mean that he buys ready-made corned beef hash in tins?

Trolley.co.uk lists all products sold in major UK supermarkets but I can see no reference to tinned corned beef hash.  It's sold as a chilled ready meal for one in Asda (£3.00), Morrisons (£3.49), Aldi (£2.49) and Sainsbury's (£3.25) but there are no listings for a tinned version anywhere.

Question Author

Arksided, it's dead easy, and that's coming from someone who is a danger in the kitchen.

Well, I never knew one could buy it in a tin!! Sorry ILA.

Arksided - it's so easy to make and tasty - check out recipe on google.

Buenchico/  Apparently Libby's and Armour have the tinned variety.  Don't fancy it though!

Aldi corned beef is just as good as other brands and cheaper.

Just add potatoes and onions...and a bit of seasoning.

Imlostagain, I can actually cook/make many things (far removed from being a chef) but I used to cook for family, but just wouldn't know where to start.

Question Author

Buenchico, nope, I'd never heard of it either, but he said it was all in a tin. He's moved on now but I'll ask him where he got it if I remember.

No problem Moorea7.

We had corned beef hash a lot during the war. Very cheap meal as well until recently . I think it's the expensive corned beef from Argentina.
