Not a military man myself, so asking those who are or were, for an opinion.

Am puzzled how infantry with back up, went from Normandy to Berlin, in so short a time, compared to modern battle tactics taking years to flush out an enemy, using indiscriminate chaotic fire power and artillery.

Just really puzzled.

Any comments from military personnel?

Audie Murphy was the most highly decorated US soldier for gallantry and wounds (purple hearts) in the entire conflict at the time.

By the way. Much to my regret I have never served in the armed forces.
Certain circumstances prevented me but I was gutted not to be able to.

Same here. Dad wouldn't sign when I was 16, and when 18 I was halfway through apprenticeship.

Dad served 13 years WW2 and 3 1/2 years POW with Japs Burma Railway.
