//I am a Tory and will always vote Tory. No matter how much I hate the leadership I hate the opposition more. //

Well, with respect, that's a big part of why we've ended up with the situation we have now. You're a Tory because you're a Tory because you're a Tory. If you wanted Brexit, you had the opportunity both to vote for the policy in the referendum and later to install a Brexiteer to manage it. Like many other Brexiteers, you decided not to do it and put party first instead.
kromo: "ou had the opportunity both to vote for the policy in the referendum and later to install a Brexiteer to manage it" - don't see how I can effect the leadership of the Tory party.
you cannot vote or not for a party based on only 1 issue

and yet it's the one issue that's obsessed you for more than two years. But you just can't bring yourself to admit your part in it.

And of course you *do* vote on one issue - your hatred of Labour took precedence over your obsession with Brexit. Bad luck!
You know exactly what I mean, 3T. Had Labour won that election, the process of Brexit would have ended up in the hands of someone who believed in it. If that was important to you, then 2017 was the time to vote for it. Clearly it wasn't.

I just think it's a bit strange to bemoan "Remainers organising Brexit" when it is to all intents and purposes exactly what you voted for.
Indeed jno. It's hard to imagine a more single-issue approach than deciding all votes you cast on the basis of "I hate Labour", even when it comes to questions that are fundamentally important to you.
Would you like to leave the European Union or remain a member?

"Leave."

Excellent! Now which party do you want to manage this? The one led by a socialist who wants to leave or the one led by a conservative who wants to remain?

"The second one. The one led by the Remainer. I want that one."

SOME TIME LATER:

"I cannot believe that Remainers are hijacking Brexit. It's a plot I tell you. A plot to subvert our democracy. Who put them in charge? We didn't vote for this!"

Wow between politics in the UK and politics in the USA there is never a dull moment, but please don't misunderstand me. They are my NO MEANS similar!
jno: "and yet it's the one issue that's obsessed you for more than two years. But you just can't bring yourself to admit your part in it. " - I don't see the connection, please elaborate, what is my part in what?

" - I see and yes I take your point, if I thought that Labour was any less split and and any better positioned to do the job, I might have voted for them but those doubts coupled with the myriad of other issues that I hate about Cob/Labour/socialism prevented me from doing so.
blimey I thought all the brainless non thinking brexiteers
the ones who give us our daily Brexit thread

would be cock-ahoop over this

and yet they have tears in their eyes and
are wondering what happened ....
Krom, //The Labour leader voted Leave in 1975 and was visibly uncomfortable campaigning for Remain. If you wanted a Brexiter handling Brexit, he was your best bet. //

Doubt it. He clearly doesn't have the courage of his convictions.
