Haven't read it for ages but I remember it as being fantastic, so funny. In fact thank you for the reminder, I'll cancel Saga magazine and get the Oldie instead;-)
Used to read it a while ago - very entertaining - and a good crossword if I remember correctly?

Perehaps I'll give it another go.
I subscribe to it. When it drops through the door I might leave it unread for months and then I'll have a binge reading session, catching up on several months of issues all at once. I regard it as the nearest equivalent to the (much-missed) Punch, which I loved.
Richard Ingrams?
Only familiar with the crossword queries that come through, I should give it a look really.

Watching the two excellent programmes about Raymond Briggs a few days ago reminded me about his regular contribution to The Oldie. His comic book style illustrating his parents life from the time they met until their death was captivating called Ernie and Ethel if anyone wants to watch it on catch up BBC2
yeah I submitted an anagram contest of

Richard Ingrams =ignoramus errs

I didnt win - yes there are a few letters adrift but I pleaded in advance that private eye wasnt famous for accuracy
I watched the Raymond Briggs programmes, they were lovely - he's a very deep man - an air of melancholy but at ease with himself.
Punch is sadly missed. I grew up on that.
