I have a plant/weed growing in my patio which looks like a honeysuckle, which I thought it was until it flowered.The flowers are very small and blue and form a tiny spike not unlike a hebe,any ideas?

The flower spike you are describing sounds like a veronica to me, though they aren't much like honeysuckle, if it is a veronica some are regarded as weeds (speedwell) and some are prized garden plants, if you don't think it is a veronica when you check it out, perhaps you could describe plant leaves and size, or post a photo of it. Hope this is some help. H.

It could be a Ceanothus. There are lots of different varieties - but most have spikes of blue or mauve flowers. The leaves on mine aren't very honeysuckle-like, but one of the other types may be.
