Am watching the European Championships and wondered when did Israel be part of Europe. I thought Turkey was the borderline between Europe and Middle East.

Because Israel is surrounded by enemies, the Europeans have adopted them in international competitions. As well as athletics and Eurovision, Israel also play in the European Football Champions League and Europa League.
