Just got back from a day out in Blackpool
Bus driver told us all to be back on the coach at 5:15. All back on the coach ready for home except a family of 4. Driver waited until 5:30 and then rang his depot. He told us all that he had to wait another 15 mins for them. A couple of minutes before the 15 mins were up the family came strolling up. No apologies for keeping us all stuck on a hot coach waiting for them, nothing. A few passengers made some rather loud remarks as they boarded though. They seemed to have skins thicker than a pachyderm.
Why do some people seem to behave as though the world revolves around them like this. If I was the driver I would have given them 15 mins at the most and then drove of. Not nearly half an hour
Would you?

If you go on a coach trip to some places in London the driver only has a 15 minute pickup slot and clearly tells you if you are not back in time he will leave without you. This means 99% of people do get back on time.
I sat beside a woman on a trip who told me she had been left behind in London the previous week by the same driver as we had that day. And then she was nearly an hour late back to the coach and we had to wait and she didn't apologise!! So that's what some people are like I'm afraid Nailit.
Trains and planes don't wait if you're late. Why should buses or coaches?
I'm still grateful to my Yosemite driver and passengers, though.
My OH was on that bus. I like to think he might have kicked up a stink if the the driver had tried to leave without me. I'm not sure though. We'd just had an argument.

Yep, afraid so Marg.
Just give a time and then go, that's what I say.
Trains or planes don't wait for passengers that might be running a bit late so why do day excursion coaches?

Cross post there clover by the looks of it , lol
That's what I said, nailit :)
Maybe the coach driver is hoping for a big tip. Certainly in America he would be.
Ah yes!
As a seasoned organiser of school trips I am only too well aware of the problem, and it is usually the staff who cause the disruption and not the kids.
Cruise ships will wait for you if you are late only if you're a member of a group who booked a tour using the cruise line's tours, and this you do on board. If you go ashore and book a local tour and are late getting back, too bad...Wave the ship and your luggage bon-voyage.

Maybe just maybe they got mixed up 're departure time. They may well have been so embarrassed to do nothing more than slink into their seat. ? Always two sides to a story ?
