If you look at the original Ian Fleming novels, Bond's very first car was a 4-cylinder 4 litre Bentley convertible coupe with a supercharger by Amherst Villiers. They stopped making this model in 1930 but Bond bought it in 1933!! (He ages well, doesn't he!) but he kept it in storage during the war. It is used through the first 4 novels. (ps. Bond manages to write off this car in the novel, "Moonraker" when Dax gets his henchmen to unleash twenty enormous rolls of newsprint off the back of a lorry into James's path. James alomst dies, and the car is totally destroyed. He is distraught about this. (He obviously changes his opinion about wrecking cars later then...) After the Bentley, he at last drives an Aston Martin - the D.B. III from the company car pool!! (Although not the DB5, it is battleship grey). He could have chosen a Jaguar 3.4 litre, but he chooses the Aston because it's got a gun in a trick compartment under the driving seat, concealed areas to fool customs men, switches to alter the type and colour of the front & rear lights, reinforced steel bumpers for ramming, and space for a tracking device should you plant a bug on another car.
