Whenever you're around. i have just noticed in the letter I got from the hospital that I need a 'faecal elastase'. I don't like the sound of that one little bit and am afraid to google it. Can you enlighten me?
It's a test on random poo samples looking for an enzyme. It's an indicator for lots of things including chronic pancreatic disease, diabetes, chronic irritable bowel disease, and even gallstones.
Just back from my club Jack.
Faecal elastase has been explained to you by a couple of posters.
You did ask: people with chronic pancreatitis are at greater risk for cancer of the pancreas, but that doesn't mean that all patients with chronic pancreatic disease will develop cancer.......they wont.
