I am islamophobic, so what?
//Someone who is bigoted doesn't need or deserve the sympathy that the phobic suffix suggests. ...because they're jerks//

I don't like the word "bigotry".

Hate and malice I understand. At my age I've seen both many times. I don't like either.

But "bigotry" in its modern usage is a label which can be stuck on anybody the people who have the job of label-sticking decide is a bigot. Like "hate speech" the concept is totally elastic and its interpretation entirely subjective.

Let's put this to the test.

SP, I oppose gay marriage. More especially I oppose adoption by gay couples.

Does this make me (a) a bigot, or just (b) somebody who disagrees with you for possibly honourable reasons?

So those who are, rightly given many recent happenings, wary of Islam are now bigots then SP?

It's the usual lazy name calling adopted by the usual left wing liberals to force the main population to do as they say. Of course most of them are hidden behind gated communities or with security most of us can only dream of.
It would be nice if "condemned as a fool" were allowed as a valid alternative to "condemned as a knave". (Although I'd rather be hanged for the latter offence)
Once again I'll let this Muslim chap speak for me.

One man's bigot is another man's mate on the same wavelength. Bigot is a horrible word used to describe anyone who doesn't have the liberal views of the namecaller.. The vast majority of 'bigots' are that way because they've been taught to be that way. That doesn't mean they're jerks.
[email protected]. Lol. Back of the net. :))
VE, I am surprised at you posting that question; I thought you had a better grip on the language. If you want us to put your bigotry to the test we have to know more than you have given us. You wouldn't be a bigot for taking any standpoint, you would only be a bigot if you took it blindly and refused to consider anyone else's standpoint.

Btw, I am sorry to hear that there are some words you dislike.
