I may have been where she is. Personally she may not give a toss but it might be a part of her job to ensure that members of the organisation toe the organisational line. As I said, that station gets loads of visitors including many children. I used to travel at sea with my husband who was in the merc. Porn mags of the more extreme kind were a fact of life as was obscene language. None of the crew deliberately swore in front of me and the mags were always put away or shared discreetly. For myself I didn't give a toss. Later in my own job, working in the NHS, I did have to warn staff about their language and behaviour in public and about a couple of calendars that were on show where the public could see them. It never came to dismissal but I did have to discipline one person who ignored warnings. One thing we don't know is what the reaction of the men was when they were asked to remove the mugs.....

Do children actually visit the headquarters or do they only go to the museum and visitor centre?
And yes, Woof.....the reaction of the men may have gone over the top.......but if the mugs weren't on public display there was no need to ask them to get rid of them..
We do need to know more...if there is more to know.....or are those at the top frantically searching for more?
RNLI HQ is very near to me in Poole. I know the lifeboats do amazing work, shown very well in their recent TV series however for a charity their HQ is one of the most plush office buildings in the town and I also know several staff who work there - the back office business is huge and their salaries high.
Whitby sackings 'about much more than saucy mugs' - RNLI chiefs claim.
The pair were stood down following an RNLI investigation into "the production of inappropriate material of a sexual nature and associated social media activity directed at an RNLI staff member."

> From the DM: "One mug featured Mr Winspear's head superimposed on a naked woman's body (pictured, is a mock-up)"

It's not clear that the mock-up is accurate. If it is, and there was nothing else going on other than the mugs, then sacking would be a completely OTT response (compared to, say, at worst, asking them to take their mugs home) ... so OTT that I don't believe that was the mug and there was nothing else going on.
