Are We Stuck With Plastic Drinking Straws?

I don't really understand this. When I was a boy, I can't ever recall seeing a plastic straw, but now they are everywhere. Why can't we just go back to using those waxed paper straws that we all used years ago ?

We had a thread on similar a couple of days ago - reusable straws are a growing market.

Bamboo in particular.

I haven't tried the bamboo ones but as this is just a foible perhaps I should just shut up!!

Not a foible, for some a necessity - there are other types, I haven't tried them so can't recommend.

Perhaps we could save those lollie pop sticks that are hollow. You now the hard candy type ones...

Nipped into Lidl for milk last night and spotted paper straws - first time I've seen them in yonks.
