That's in Scotland Maggie ? And free eye tests .
Yes Anne, in Scotland and yes we get free eye tests too.
Ok for some.
Check ups are free but you have to pay for any other treatment. (In Wales).
costs me £22 for a check up here in leicestershire?

I've just had to pay c £220 for a broken tooth to be extracted and replaced with a bridge. I'm 68, too. I also have to pay for check-ups. I use an NHS dentist, but I broke a tooth last week and am going on holiday on Sat. so the only appointment I can get to fill it is by going private - this will cost nearly £70. :(
Yes, unless you are on some benefits.

Age is no respecter of the changes that have happened to our wonderful NHS.
Ignore my answer at 18.56. Check ups are only free in Wales if you are under 25, over 60, or on certain benefits.

Dental charges were introduced in 1951 Mikey, just 3 years after the NHS was formed. I'm not sure whether over 65s had to pay back in 1951 or whether that came later
