How long should you charge a new mobile phone battery for?

You say a new mobile phone twirly,it will probably give you the correct charging time in the manual( if you have one) if not just charge it for as long as it takes initially which is probably a bit longer than when its up and running.

Sounds like this is your first mobile phone? If not then you can ignore the following.

The phone will automatically charge the battery for the correct amount of time to fully charge it and then it will stop charging, You cannot overcharge the battery if you leave it connected to the charger for hours after it has finished charging. You can charge it with the phone switched on or off, if it is on then the charging time will take longer due to the extra power used while is charging.
