No Receipt.

I've lost the receipt from an item I bought in August this year. Will a bank statement print off showing the purchase be accepted.

proof of purchase can be bank statement , the problem is that the item itself is not stipulated so it will very much be up to the retailer and probably a credit note at best...larger retailers are more open to this than small..

I used a statement for ARGOS when I had a faulty telly and they accepted that ....

Take your statement along with your best smile and ask for the manager, save a bit of time.

If the item is faulty then a bank statement is sufficient.

The item is a car battery that's not holding the charge for more then three or four days. I don't want my money back I just want a replacement.

John Lewis do that PP ! no real need for receipts ,all on record as I found out years ago when insisting they had fitted the wrong colour carpet whilst I was out..ex was colour blind !
