I was watching the TV show ''999 what's your emergency'' and was astounded at some of the reasons people dialed 999. One man called because he was living in a Salvation Army hostel and he said '' they keep coming into my room and playing loud music'' I laughed at that one, visions of the Salvation Army brass band playing in his bedroom.
I have dialed 999 4 times, once for a fire, twice for a robbery and once for a car crash.
How about the rest of you?

Just remembered another one. A man ran into a glass door. He went right through it and cut both wrists. I dialled 999 as he was losing a lot of blood. We wrapped towels around his wrists and held them tight, the ambulance was there in under 3 minutes .
EDDIE, once had a 'dear john' myself, nearly killed me. People just DONT understand how much this stuff impacts you, especialy when you've just lost not only ur freedom but ur home and everything else.
Rung them a few times, mainly Police and once to the Coastguard. Once, about 15 years go, on Motorway for someone who was clearly drunk or on drugs. (Hands free!)

Wife rung them once when our shop was targetted by the local 'travellers'(She was n her own). Plod never pitched up, we got an apology after I went and tacked the Superintendent and bu no offer of compo on the lost stock.

Had the ambulance called for me a couple of times (Bad athematic)

Never called the fire brigade although someone called it for us. I had already put out the fire my ex-wife had caused (chip pan).
Once when a man appeared from nowhere brandishing a knife whilst I waited to put my girlfriend on the last bus home. I was 14.
Again when I was walking up to another girlfriends house and I saw a neighbouring house on fire.

And once when I saw an accident unfold before me on the M25.
Ooh, some stories here. We've phoned for my mum when she was very ill.
It astounds me what some people phone for.
"000" in Oz.

Numerous times for MVA'S and sports injuries.

Once for my wife who was violently ill. The paramedic who arrived to treat and take her to hospital is now our son in law.
Twice, in sad circumstances, we went to visit my MIL and found the door still locked and looking through the window saw her dead in a chair. The police and their doctor came then we had to wait for the undertaker, my husband subsequently wrote to the boss of the local police station to say has kindly their officer had handled the situation and he replied that it was good of him to write, they get so few positive communications. The second instance was when we had been unable to get an elderly cousin on the phone and we went to the flat, got the building manager to open the door and found him dead.
RTA?
piggy - RTA = Road Traffic Accident.
1ozzy, that’s a great story.
Driving home from work a few year ago, smoke started coming from the dashboard. I carried on for a bit to get to a turn off and parked up well away from the main road. Lifted the bonnet and there was lots of smoke. Called the fire brigade and waited while the car went up in flames.

Not sure how long they took to get to it but it well ablaze by the time they did and it was a shell by the end.
Omg, Corby. Lucky you were ok. My car started smoking once. I was going up a multi-storey car park. A man saw the engine was smoking, he shouted at me to get out of the car, I shouted at my then 6 year old son to get out. He didn't. The handbrake failed and the car went rolling down the ramp and crashed into into another car. Thankfully, no one was hurt.
Twice once for my Papa who’d had a stroke and was crawling round the house looking for the phone. Second for my gran, can’t remember why but she got blues and twos going in.

Minty I still take great comfort in knowing that you were on scene at one of the crashes since I knew that particular driver. Still miss her everyday x
queenie I think of her too... but really she went quickly and would not have suffered..such a shame..and she got her Hail Mary !!
