what is the halloween music used in most maybe all of the halloween films? it's also on a chill out cd.

It's the theme to the first movie, and was composed by it's director - John Carpenter.

Isn't it Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield?

Whilst I stand by my answer as the correct one, I can see some similarity between it and "Tubular Bells" (I think TB was used in a - car? - ad recently, and as previously stated in "The Exorcist"). I do think it far more likely that TB would be on a "chill out" album than Halloween - so possibly eggcup5 may have the two confused.
