I know Boots will add your points to your card if you have forgotten to take it.
Maybe M&S do similar?

sorry Alba - that wasn't my question - I just wondered if M&S add points/money to every £1 you spend.

One year when I saw a lady use one I thought it was a credit card which I didn't want.

Just found I have £20 with boots. I am in these wee shops often enough but don't use the card all the time.
This is a couple of years old so I don't know if things have changed - but tells you how it works.

thanks mamy for that - don't think I'll be bothered with events blah blah - just wanted the points/money off.

However could you explain why an elderly lady last year in M&S - was paying for groceries and I "think" it is a long time ago - but I think she peeled off like money coupons like £10, £20, etc. Would you know what that was. Ta
no - you get all sorts of discounts from wine to food to home and clothing from time to time (25% off typically).
They add points to your card each time you spend and donate something to a charity that you choose from a list. You cannot spend the points but the more you collect the more offers you get. I had 20% off everything last weekend and bought a winter jacket. You will get invited to events in stores and a preview to the sales on line, usually 50% off which is a bigger saving than they actually go in the sale for.
She was spending vouchers received as a gift?

ok - thanks all for your replies.
Markies do a credit card thing ,apart from Sparks, that can be used in other shops..you gain points and they issue money off coupons a few times a year.. if you clear every month or put credit on so you don't carry over a debit..the money off coupons are a good deal... especially when you are buying everything using it... mum used to get hundreds of pounds back in coupons , as well as free coffee/tea vouchers to use in their cafés
I do very well out of my M and S and John Lewis credit cards...all large purchases go on one or the other as does most of my internet grocery shopping. Sparks is ok...you get monthly offers which are supposed to be tailored to what you buy, periodic 20% off offers and early access to online sales.
