Black & White Film Title

I am looking for the title of an old film where a brother and sister or husband and wife were in a foreign city and after her return to the hotel her male partner has disappeared . She convinces another gent that her male companion has vanished and finally discover he was secreted away to prevent mass hysteria over the fact that he had contracted a contagious disease and his room was blocked off as though it never existed but by counting the room windows they discover that the room is supposed to be where the woman said it was. Can anyone help with the title ?
