Talk of candles and incense (in Tills post below) during church service. I'm currently burning incense and 16 candles in my living room. Very relaxing, along with some sedate chilling music on my lappy.
Anyone else use candles and incense at home? For some reason my mates seem to think that its a 'womans thing' but do comment that my home is very relaxing.
Just curious, thanks.

....and then there's the munchies.
The Guardian website defines 'the munchies' as "the phenomenon associated with smoking cannabis which results in late-night trips to the corner shop to stock up on crisps, peanuts, cakes, chocolate, fizzy drinks and several packs of extra large Rizla". Ignoring the references to cannabis and Rizlas (but possibly adding in some 4-packs of lager), that's my normal lifestyle anyway!
Sounds reasonable to me.
I might be odd but I do like the whiff at a Catholic funeral service.
As long as you're not humming 'another one bites the dust' at the time, that's not odd ;-)
Too busy concentrating on singing How Great Thou Art backward in me head in case I get taken in by the atmosphere. :)
I love the idea of scented candles, I just don't light them or have them in the house, they cause my mouth to dry up, anything scented like wheaten bags (for the microwave) nice bags of dried flowers and commercial incense doesn't help me relax at all, recently went to fancy shop where among other things there was the scented corner, sticks in bottles and the like, I had to run out for air, and was very unwell for the rest of the day. I once knew what was in a gift box for me as in the heat of the house my tummy was churning, lips were getting dry, so my lovely friend that had given it to me was with me at the time and she told me it was home made little dried lavender bags (pomander) - I was very disappointed for her going to so much trouble to treat me. They are popular with a lot of folk though
I know that feeling Ducksie, my Daughter used to drag me into a shop in town and the dreadful mix of everything perfumed all swirling toether in the atmosphere made me feel ill.

PS, I did you a Birthday thread on the 12th.x
It's an awful feeling mamya, (not my birthday on the 12th ) thanks though
Sorry.
It's OK :)
I like candles on a formal dinner table but I hate scented candles and I would never burn incense.
Duck sir, I agree with you. Can't stand all those scented candles and all other dried flowers etc. Gives me a headache. Never burn candles of any kind in our house. Unless of course there is a power cut!
Ducksie!
I did smile at duck sir, I knew what you meant Patsy :) I'd love to enjoy them but like mamya too, they make me very unwell
I think the only scented candle I can tolerate is sandalwood.

Late brother left me a tube of incense sticks, by jingo, they ponged!
(some worse than others!)

each to their own I guess x
Not bothered about candles, especially the smelly ones, but I must confess that if I'm alone I sometimes fire up my old safety lamp and just sit back with a glass of malt and think about the old days.
