thanks HC - will do -
Congratulations, Hc4361!

I've spent ten minutes wading through pages of info on the Sky website (and continually going around in circles) and trying to phone them for a solution. I'd just found a way of accessing the 'live chat' option (by going via 'complaints', rather than 'help' in their menu options) when I saw that you'd beaten me to it.

Sky's so-called help system is nearly as bad as BT's for promising much but offering little!
The best way to get Sky's attention is to ask to terminate your contract.

I know Sky are bad and I am dreading it ie the Confab
Question Author
Might do Hoppy as really I only record so might terminate them

If I do is there anything else out there I can get so I can record etc. Thanks again.

If you cancel your Sky subscription your box will still receive all of the channels listed here (free of charge):
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_free-to-air_channels_at_28%C2%B0E

However you'll lose all of your existing recordings and you won't be able to record anything new.

Alternatively you could replace your Sky+ box with something like this, which would enable you to view and record Freesat channels:

Don't forget that BBC programmes can be seen on iPlayer.

You can show these on your TV in several ways. One of the easiest is to attach a Google Chromecast to the TV, which is currently about £19.
