The last time I went to France a few years ago lots of the big supermarkets were showing prices in euros and francs.

They still did when I last visited Calais and the surrounding areas about four years ago, Dave. I think they took the decision to do so when the euro was introduced so that people could make comparisons easily. Seems they had a good idea but not, perhaps, for the reasons they envisaged!

France might well give up the euro, emmie, the only point I am making is that it will be a factor in the decision to leave the EU or not. From what I have read around 70 per cent of the French would rather stay with the euro, but I don't know how accurate that is. Also of course those who would like to keep the euro might consider factors like control of immigration and sovereignty much more important.

It isn't just a case of relabelling your tin of pois either, though some might have you think so.

France still gives prices in euros and francs - and the markets still sell eggs in dozens (well, in France Profonde they do!)
