When the infrared light from my security cameras bounce of my car number plate it glares out most of the picture. Anyone any experience of this, what if I coat it in matt varnish for example? Any other ideas? thanks.

that's the opposite of what I want balders.

everyone seems concerned about the law on this, it simply says it must be reflective, all I'm trying to do is reduce the reflectiveness. Every thing in the world is reflective or you would not be able to see it at all.
Here is the solution.

Put your wheelie bin in front of it.
It could just be that yours are particularly sparkly. You could try getting a friend to park a car there to see if you get the same problem and if not perhaps think of getting somewhere like Halfords to make up replacements.

Umm, I must have misunderstood, I thought you wanted it to be less reflective, never mind!

///Kenro Anti Reflect Spray - Full Matt
Reduces the reflection and glare when photographing objects with shiny reflective surfaces. Safe to use on most surfaces, and easy to wipe off with a soft clean cloth///
BA to Melv for thinking oot the box !!
I suppose on the downside, whatever you do, all ABERS will know that in Order to safely burgle TTT's house all they need to do is plaster themselves with numberplates......
could you move the camera?

ok, I asked an honest question and all I get is load of trolling, thanks a lot everyone. As usual I'll figure it out myself.

I offered you a page of products that reduce glare, if that's your reaction, never again.

I'll just go away and reflect on that answer :-)

Does your camera have different channel setting 3T or does it perhaps have different saturation level settings? Also is the sensor a CMOS model. If so you may find a CCD sensor less prone to picking up the reflection you are experiencing.
these things are made to fool cameras, but perhaps you could just stick on on your plates when the car's in the driveway?
