when someone has solved your crossword or helped with a problem, it's only manners
after all, so why do some not do it.

Some people think that TIA (thanks in advance) at the end of the question absolves them from any further comment.
It is a bit rude, I agree. Some think it's enough to thank in advance in the question. I suppose some are just not as well-mannered.

a ta or thanks is sufficient, same as when your out and about, suprising how many people don't do it.
I get a bit annoyed by TIA, too. Silly really, but it doesn't take much to post a quick thank you afterwards.
It's because the AB is a microcosm of society - some people are polite, some people are rude - that the way it is.
It's nice but not too important - I often think people post a query then go out, do other things etc.
it's a question and answer site. people ask questions and get answers - no need for TIA or a thanks afterwards IMO.
I think some responders like being the first to answer/ the best answer anyway, so they get their own rewards :)

mamy, you are probably right, but once back in can easily post a ta to their problem/crossword
I agree with bednobs...

Also, people ask questions on multiple sites so completely forget they've asked once they've got their answer.
I think good manners have practically ceased to exist emmie. It's harder for me (being 70) as I can well remember when manners counted for something.Yes,they might have been a bit restricting, but at least you knew where you were.
Most do Emmie, in my experience.
Oldbather - I live close to a boys school so meet them in the shop daily, all are nothing but polite.
