We have the same problems here in Wales. I am currently visiting my brother in the Heath Hospital, where he is in ITU.

Just outside the main entrance, there are some really large signs, saying that smoking is banned on Hospital premises. Not little signs but big ones, about a foot across, in English and Welsh.

But you can hardly see or read these signs, because they are obscured by......smokers standing in front of them, puffing away merrily !

TTT....calm down dear !
prudie: "we'll ignore the fact that the numbers of particularly nurses but also doctors who smoke are above the national average. " - any link to back that up? Sounds like Cobras to me.

Prudie....let me translate TTT for you....he means Rowlocks !
I saw an artical ( years ago) that said Doctors were among the groups of people that had the lowest % of smokers.
Lets face it, they have to deal with the effects of smoking every day.
Wow TTT...a bit o paranoia going on there!

Like I said in my post people on drips also want to get off the ward and get fresh air. They aren't all smokers.
Eddie - they also have to deal with the effects of obesity but it never ceases to amaze me how many nurses are seriously overweight.
yes but we are talking about smokers, I used the drip as an inanimate prop to indicate the desperation of the smokers. I am surprised it is beyond your comprehension.
From the 1st paragraph
Medical professionals, of all people, should know how harmful smoking is. In Britain, almost no doctors smoke.
If God hadn't meant us to smoke he wouldn't have invented tobacco.

Those were the days jno !
Sanjenko I think the quote you are thinking of was ''If God had intended us to smoke he would have put chimneys on our heads''
People used to call 'Camels', camel dung wrapped in bus tickets.
My wife as ex nurse was not allowed to smoke in her own car once upon hospital premises. She now vapes.
Still don't like it though.
