// David Cameron has revealed details of his plan to resettle thousands of Syrian refugees who have fled the country's civil war, with the Government preparing to accept up to 20,000 from camps near the border by 2020.

He said Britain would take in vulnerable refugees only from camps in the region //

Almost as soon as the ink was dry on that pledge, the Conservatives began to back track. The 20,000 quickly became a few thousand. The 3,500 child refugees turned out to be a few hundred.

People who are complaining are justified and not moaners. If the Government say they will do something, and then don't, then they deserve all the criticism they get.
This is just like their pledge to get immigration down to the tens of thousands, and then they let in DOUBLE the number of immigrants that Labour let in.
If Governments do not honour their pledges then why should we believe anything else they say?

No they don't, situations change, and any Government that are reluctant to carry out 'U-Turns' when public opinion and other factors call for them, are on a very sticky wicket indeed.
AOG

Cameron was dizzy he did so many u-turns.
U-turns are not the sign of a good Government. They should lusten first, and then set a policy, not the other way around.
In this instance, the policy may have been flawed to begin with. Cameron only made the pledge as a vanity statement for him and the Country. He was signalling to other countries, 'The British and my Government care' when in reality, the didn't.
The problem was we didnt let in vulnerable children (admitted by Home office not me). It appears there are not that many unaccompanied kids there, hardly surprising, so we let in a load of freee loaders instead.

So public opinion did shift. It has nothing to do with Brexit, mor to do with the fact Camorons lot lied.
The problem was that the "children" had an average age of 35!
A U-Turn by the Tories...who would have thought it possible !

I am just gad to see that Nicholas Winton is no longer alive to see this. A quote from his daughter today :::

She urged May to remember her own words at her late father's memorial service, "as the world once again teeters on the edge of dark times"

Billy Bragg made some very points here :::::

Perhaps the government saw sense when it realised that the ‘children’ aren’t, in the main, children. Good move!!
Indeed.
Who can trust Mrs May again now, after this abandonment of her promise ?
Mikey, I'd trust her even more now! Common sense has prevailed!!

You failed to put what kind of points.

Did you not listen to last nights question time, Billy Bragg was booed, and even on your youtube clip he wasn't applauded very extensively.

It is alright for these well off celebrities to spout their liberal lefty views, but they don't live in the real world, as the rest of us do.
Or is it all part of sensible decision making?

depends if you are one of refugees I suppose
