Noooo, not Iceberg lettuce! In time of Crisis we Brits come through, I'll do my bit and give donate my ration to the people.
tamborine, //Brexit will deny us lots of fruit & veg we glean from EU.//

Oh no!! The producers will throw it all away rather than sell it to us!! Great business practice!!
The warehouse where we buy our f and v has photos of the terrible conditions in Spain although I am tempted to say that anyone who buys iceberg lettuce deserves all they get, or in this instance don't get! We too grow our own, never ending supply well into November, granddaughter doesn't like lettuce but she loves to go down and pick her own.
there seems to be a spinach shortage as well, doing my swede in :-D
They are pretty tasteless from the supermarket, I grow my own salad items and they taste far better, still got some fresh beetroot and spring onions in the garden now.

I think what this highlights is the huge food miles we run up. There has become an obsession with all fruit an veg all year round meaning it has to be imported from a country in the right place. This is totally unnecessary as is the amount of salad items lobbed onto everything. This may be a good thing to wake us up.
Iceberg lettuce is nice so long as it's smothered in salad cream !
I don't buy Iceberg much but this week I couldn't get much at all in the way of salad greens at all or tender stem broccoli.
There are no baby turnips either - how is a sheep supposed to survive?
Lettuce pray the problem is short leaved.

I have just returned from Lidl and I was able to get lashings broccoli, and sugar-snap peas but no courgettes and no purple sprouting broccoli either.

By the way, I never said salad was tasteless, just iceberg lettuce. A nice crisp Cos letter is lovely.
