He won't be in a hospital wing, but a vulnerable perspersons wing, I doubt he will put to work cleaning floors, should this elderly person become ill , I'd guess he will be seen by a doctor quicker that on the " outside ".
I see what you are getting at Jackdaw, the cost is goign to be phenominal and in reality h probably wont loose any more freedom than locked in a care home.

However, where do you draw the line? 80? 90? 100? He is a piece of scum who has ruined pe0ples lives in pursuit of his perversion.

No life sentences for these NONCEs from me. Just get out the cheeswire.
Jackdaw - he's received the sentence deemed appropriate under the law - I fail to see the stupidity in that.

As for the 'fortune' to keep him in prison - what do you suggest? Euthanasia?
The prison service has a fixed budget. They don't get 'extra' for looking after another elderly prisoner, all the facilities already exist. From that standpoint the cost is zero as it has already been incorporated in the prison service budget. Care in a care home for someone his age would cost £3000 to £4000 a week anyway as he is going to need 24/7/365 one to one care and protection. In jail he will be on solitary confinement and 24 hour watch all as part of the 'service' . The other prisoners will still be competing to hurt or kill him even if he is 101 , they hate child abusers as I have said before on here!
The sadness here is that he wasn't stopped in his tracks years ago.
"The other prisoners will still be competing to hurt or kill him even if he is 101..."

Which, in my book, makes them about as bad as him.
The sentence seems about right to me. Sentencing is supposed to have a deterrent effect is it not?
life sentence for child abuse, works for me.
are you suggesting that the judge should try and estimate the longevity of the individual? Unusually the judge is bang on.
the septics are the masters at this and they are correct, longevity estimates are not needed or relevant because of some twee estimate of such:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_longest_prison_sentences
384,912 years, now that's a proper jail term!
oops that was Spain but you get the idea!

Not a business man DB, I imagine that many have considered murdering someone to get banged up on 3 squares a day for life in Butlins, me included.
// Sounds ok to me- there is no point trying to guess someone's life expectancy first.//

assurance companies do that every day
I think they are called actuarial table ( may be life expectancy tables

2.5 y for old girls and 2.1 years for men
once again you excel yourself PP! Right so judges will have to get an estimate for longevity prior to sentencing for no other reason than the hard of thinking cannot comprehend that it is possible to die before getting released. Do un pawn the other brain cell!
What pees me off about this old monster is that he is 101 and looks to be in reasonable health for his age and my beloved parents both died in their 80's and were good people. No justice in this world and I can't help feeling this way.
Let this awful man die in prison....end of story.
