does anyone find that they get less heat from radiators fitted with radiator covers? I'm thinking of getting some but dont want to lose heat

They do make the radiators less afficient but my wife wanted them so we got them.


I cut holes in the top of the cover to get more air flow and they worked a lot better.

When radiators are manufactured, the are designed to give a certain heat output for each different size.When your system was installed, the installer will have taken all the heat outputs into consideration to assess what size radiator is required for each room. You may find, especially in very cold conditions, that your rooms may not reach the required temperature if you fit covers over the radiators.


If you have thermostatic radiator valves, you will find that the radiator valve will shut down before the room has warmed, as it is receiving a false room temperature.


Sorry to put you off, but radiator covers are not a good idea.
