"Listen with Mother's" signature tune. 1.45pm daily in the 1950s found me "sitting comfortable, then I'll begin ........" The familiar voice of Daphne Oxenford the presenter, who died today age 93.

No - Dong-de-dong was just the noise we children made when the signature tune came on, most of my little friends referred to the programme as "Dong-de-dong" Listen to the tune on the link I gave earlier.

Found the story/song I remembered in my first posting at 23.56

Another particularly memorable song, which featured at least once a week, ended:
This is the way the old men ride, Hobble-dee Hobble-dee Hobble-dee and down into a ditch!
Missed your post Ann 86, how well I remember 'Hobble dee, hobble dee and DOWN into the ditch!!
I remember that. I always listened to it too.
