Would anyone like to gimme a job in admin in North East Lincolnshire. I am fantastic at clerical support and have great references and experience but seem to only get jobs that offer no sick pay - is this legal?

All companies pay sick pay, at least to the statutory minimum. If they are paying SSP then you probably wont get paid for the 'waiting days', usually the first 3 days of any sickness. This has a big effect on cutting down on employees 'pulling sickies'.
