I have found a long running TV competition that has never had anything other than white contestants in over 40 years and it is still running today!
What is it and why is it allowed?

One man and his dog? (White sheep?)

One Man And His Dog!
Started 40 years ago last week! Sexist title as well though there are female contestants.

The only 'black' faces are the sheep! ff
You do get the odd brown and white sheep-dog.

^^ Yes agreed but it is the Humans who are the competitors ! and they are all white and mainly male.

27 Sep 2015 - This year's One Man and His Dog competition comes from Chirk Castle, ... trialling arena with Chirk's very own Black Welsh Mountain Sheep.
Perhaps it is 'allowed' because they are the ones that enter and/or reach any reasonable stage of the competition!

MAybe it is down to who applies and how well they do. Now wouldn't that be a shocker. Selection on ability and not positive discrimination for those not up to the mark??
I used to watch that programme every week. I was very much a dog person back then.
I started writing a long defence of the show and it's choice of competitors when it hit me...someone is having a little joke. Duh silly me.

I can concede that the "One Man" bit of the title could be seen to be sexist. I'm sure that the BBC executives debated this name for some time before agreeing that it was more important to keep the continuity of the name than to change it in case anyone took offence.

Running with Wolf's sideways move to talk about cats (has anyone noticed she does this a lot in conversation?) I would love to see "One Nutter and a Cat" where a person has to encourage their cat to herd up a few sheep(or animal of your choice). It could be the future of TV!!!

Andrew - it's called Cat Herding

And - I never mentioned cats in my post
I thought herding cats was a very different thing.

You are right, you didn't 'actually' mention cats...
Surely the programme name is taken from the poem/song 'one man went to mow' so not a reflection on the gender of the contestants just a play on words.
Rename it one gender neutral person and his four legged friend.
