At the risk of sounding facetious, it's a loaf of meat. It involves minced beef/pork/lamb and or pork farce and various other ingredients that is then cooked in a loaf tin in the oven. There are probably as many meatloaf recipes as there are American mothers, some are more like terrine and others are very spicy. Try starting by making a simple one then go nuts if everyone enjoys it. Make sure you have a loaf tin in hand then combine

1 white onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, mashed with a knife blade

2/3 slices of bread, crumbed

About 1.5 pounds of beef mince

An egg

Herbs and spices. Which you use are up to you, I usually add some fresh thyme and rosemary and some cayenne pepper and chilli powder. You'll find the combination you like if you try various things

Combine all the ingredients in a bowl, season well with salt and pepper, then place in a greased loaf tin. Heat your oven to 190 (possibly 200 for non-fan-assisted) and bake for an hour to an hour and a half. There will be some fat on the top but just drain this off. Serve with mash and green veg.

Make sure you have some leftovers, cold meatloaf sandwiches with english mustard rock.

why can't you google meat loaf yourself and do the research?
why have answerbank then because an awful lot of answers on here can be googled. Not the same though is it?

no offence to you jules, but some people are too lazy to research simple things like such. if someone wants an advice or feed back or opinion it's different. i put my two cents where i can, hoping i could maybe help someone. we all should try to help ourselves first before seeking help from others. that's really my point.

howdy, maybe people prefer to get personal answers from people they 'know' rather than seven bajillion answers on google. basically, if i wanna post a question here, i will. and if u dont wanna answer it, dont. but dont knock my decision to post it rather than google it.

I agree that it`s good to have tried & tested recipes. By doing a search you do end up getting loads of different variations. Sometimes you just want a basic tasty one.

And you can add in extra flavours like applesauce and mustard, peppers, chillies, varoius spices like paprika, or add sun dried tomatoes, extra onions, pesto - almost anything you fancy to be honest.

Try with turkey mince for a change, or even a vegetarian option with lentils etc. They are all fairly simple and you might want to try a couple of variations to get the one that suits you best.

try 1lb braising steak minced with 1/2 lb smoked bacon. mix well with some cayenne and parsley, 2 slices bread (crumbed) and 1 beaten egg.

bake 1hr 15 mins 375deg

enjoy
