When did Diaper take over from nappy in the UK?

I didn't realise it had changed and had to check where this article was from but it is a sunny sout west resort in the UK and not some soutern state in the US.

There's a firm up the road from me which has been around since 1911, simply taking its name from that of its founder. In those days most Brits wouldn't have been familiar with US terminology but many people now seem to think it a little odd ;-)

A US term which I hate (but increasingly hear used these days) is 'upcoming' instead of 'forthcoming'. Grrr!

I swear this is a true story !

When in America for the first time, I remarked on the lovely Siamese cat that my friends mother had, by referring to it as her wonderful pussy. I was only young and had no idea what I had said !

Always said and wrote 'mom' though it sounds slightly different to the American mom.
It's normal usage in the Midlands
