Hello all you clever technie ABers out there ... just bought a new mobile and although I think it's transferred all the data from the old phone, when I try to make a phone call, or refresh my email inbox, it keeps telling me there is no mobile network. Can't face going back to the store in the city centre, unless I really have to, can anyone out there, please help.

Many thanks, Cheers, Chox.

Well it could be a broken handset. Does your old handset still find the network ? If not maybe the network is down in your area.

Is the handset tied to one network and your SIM issued by a different one ?

Try the settings, check that it is looking for the right network.

Might be worthwhile removing the SIM, rubbing the contacts to clean them, and reinserting the SIM.

Thanks oldgeezer. thanks for your advice. I had a bit of a play with the new phone and then decided to give my network provider a call. They actually told me that it would take 24 hours for all the data etc to be transferred over, not the 2-3 hours which the girl in the shop told me .... So there you go! Not best pleased with the girl in the shop, but we'll see what happens mid tomorrow morning .... appreciate your suggestions though. Cheers, Chox.
No problem.
Hope it works out.

Thanks for all your advice, ABers, much appreciated. In the end - gave it 24 hours for the data to transfer, still "no network available", so gritted my teeth and phoned O2 again. And the girl at the other end told me that the "guru" in our local high street store had only transferred the tariff - she had not bothered to transfer the addresses, etc. Anyway, all working now and Chox is a happy bunny again!
