I have not been to a cinema since 1979. I was thinking of giving it another try. But I'm afraid they've blown it now:

NJ...If you go to the pictures, you will have to put up with the constant slurping and masticating, as people seem to view a trip to the cinema as an ideal time to have dinner.

// The intriguing part of this is why on earth the boss of the cinema chain could even consider for one moment that the majority of his customers would
be happy with his ridiculous idea.//

Because they would. The majority of his customers are all doing it. The people who think it's ridiculous don't go to the cinema any more NJ, and probably haven't been for decades in some cases.

But it seems the cinema boss has been told differently, ludwig, by his customers (ironically over "social meeja"). But in any case, why would you pay to get in to see a film and spend the time pi55ing about with a phone (with no consideration for your fellow cinema goers, who may not share your addictive obsession, natch)?

I find it as baffling as you do NJ, but to be fair I can remember before mobile phones existed, some people would spend the whole of the film talking to each each instead of watching the 'kin thing with the same ignorance towards other filmgoers. At least when people are on facebook updating their status to 'At the pictures, not watching the film' they're keeping quiet.
Been ages sine I went to the cinema. When I used to go fractionally more often, two or three decades ago, I used to find the early evening was a decent time to go. Quieter as the kids had seen the afternoon show, and the adults wanted to eat first and then come to the cinema later.
And as I hit the submit button I see something has removed just to annoy.
Oh and again ! I'll repeat in exactly the same words as I just previously typed, if I am allowed. I KNOW it was right, I checked it. Although at the end I did see that the PC had put up a menu no one had asked for nor wanted, and I had to redo the end bit again.

And as I hit the submit button I see something has removed the 'c' from 'since, just to annoy.
And the magic apostrophe has now decided to disappear.

That is even more interesting given I only copied and pasted the last paragraph yet inexplicable the whole post has turned up.
inexplicably
As I typed
A post editing function would be so much less irritating.

just a happy crowd are we,
We're all pals together,
We're minors of the ABC."

What! jumpers for goal posts.
