You could do worse than Madeira. Very picturesque but not popular with young families, hence very few kids.

The Senator Haz hotel in Eger, Hungary is lovely - you can book online - the people, food & sights are very nice. Budapest is also lovely but more lively & Debrecen in the East of Hungary is also worth a visit. The trains & street cars are very clean, cheap & run precisely on time. Highly recommended.

i spent my honeymoon in a remote cottage ont he shores of loch carron wester ross scotland and can thouroghly recommend it. I couldn't believe i had been attached to that country all my life and noone had urged me to go there!
