Dongle!

I think my dongle has died. I've only ever had one so am not sure what to buy now. I have a PC (old) which is usb2. I use XP and will upgrade very soon but just need this one to work for a bit longer. It's a creaky old machine and my broken dongle is a usb netgear thing that is a usb, a long lead and what looks like a memory stick on the end. I'd be really grateful for any links to what I should buy (Amazon?) as I'm clueless about how technology has progressed with dongles in the past ten years! Thanks

Pinky- thanks but I need a dongle not a usb stick! :)
Assuming you mean a wifi dongle, this is want you want.

They're much smaller now than they used to be and plug straight in to a USB port.
If you need it to be further away from your computer for any reason, you can buy USB extension leads.
Now that I've a bit more time to answer; if you Google "wifi dongle" in Amazon you'll get a bigger choice or, if you prefer to shop locally, PC World sell several. The chances are that the long lead that came with your original one is just an extension lead anyway (I had that sort initially); the dongle will just pull off the end and you can plug the replacement in its place.
We just bought one in our local PC shop. we paid £15. Just get WiFi dongle 300.

Many thanks! I found in the end it was easiest to look on Amazon and search for one which was compatible with XP.
