Why are Chef's trousers black and white checked

not always when im at work the chefs wear black trousers but they can buy red and white check blue n white fishes vegatables etc there is a wide range to choose from when your next at the local which does food see if they have the catalogue

And why clogs as well?
They wear clogs because apparently clogs are very comfortable if you are on your feet for long periods of time. Surgeons quite often wear them as well (for long operations and the like)
A single colour would show the dirt more. Harlequin chef trousers also available.
