After a long time together, including 3 house moves, it was with great sorrow the we eventually had to say goodbye to our Bejam chest Freezer. Bought in 1985 from their shop in Dudley, now in the West Midlands, it eventually gave up the ghost and died from a broken outer wall which simply rotted away! Always kept in a garage/outhouse without a murmur of protest.
They don't make 'em like that any more. :-((

I know how you feel, last year we had to say goodbye to our Bejam 2 door upright, bought in 1987.!!! In our case they certainly don't make them like that anymore, couldn't find a 2 door freezer anywhere.

Bejam, there's a blast from the past.
We still have a Bejam chest freezer going strong. Not sure how long we have had it but it was bought some time in the 1980s.

Thanks for the condolences from all of you. Eddie51 Just keep fingers crossed, it could be living on borrowed time!
May it rest in peace and chat with the toasters, sounds as though its had a journey. My freezer sounds as though its possessed... it was given to me by an old friend in the early naughties she did let me know... what it sounds like. It has stood me in good stead (Make unknown) but likes to keep me on my toes in the middle of the night... not expecting it to come on.
The modern freezers are so much better insulated that you may find - if you buy a good replacement- your electricity will bills go down.
RIP Bejam freezer, I used to work for Bejam.
