I think this is a good result.

When I heard that he wanted to return to the ring, I thought it sounded like a terrible idea.

I have a lot of time for Frank but this is the right decision.
I agree, it is the right decision.

I have always believed that Frank Bruno is fundamentally too nice a person to be a boxer.

I remember years ago, he came to open a new gym near the school where my wife was Deputy Head, and she took her top junior class to meet him. She said that Frank was charming with all the staff, and took time to chat with the children, and was generally a lovely man.

I contrasted that with Mike Tyson when Bruno lost to him. It wasn;t hard to see why – Bruno was a gentleman who wanted to box Tyson into submission, Tyson was a street thug who wanted to kill Bruno and would have bitten his head off if it was in the rules – or even if it wasn’t!

Frank is well past an age where he could expect to be a decent opponent, he needs to stay retired and look after his mental health.
This headline in The Sun about sums it up.

They had to retract the story, but it was true that he had been sectioned. He thought he was the Italian Jockey, Frankie Dettorie
Harry would say "don't do it Frank".

You don't many (if any) boxers do you andy?
Most of them are fundamentally nice people.
So to sum up the response from AB'ers,

It's a decision made on points!
Frank, if you are on here, you have done your best for GB & boxing, take it on the chin for your family & call it a day before the day ends your life, from a follower of Frank Bruno, a decent man( Arry would have wanted that Frank.
Well said TWR :)
I think he was on earlier TW ... having a chat with Dave about the Brexit.
Very sad I can only assume that he says he 'has no choice' due to financial problems (lack of cash) Well, I for one would be happy to donate to a charity fund to help him. Good idea ?
One of my bestist gentleman performers was Frank with his lovely laugh ( or chuckle) so glad the decision has been taken out of his gentle giant hands, hope he can find something else to occupy his time.
Eddie, 100% behind you., let me know if there is one started.
I'm glad he isn't going to be doing it.
Would be very happy if professional boxing was banned
And David Haye comparing it with John McEnroe playing a match against Andy Murray was slightly missing the point but he thought it would be ok if he fought someone his own age!
andy, I love your comment about Tyson ".... even if it wasn't" :-D
