How can I get a worming tablet down my mad ginger cat's throat without him biting off my finger? The vet has the magic touch and when he is there really is a 'pussy cat' ... but I can't afford to go to the vet and pay for her to do the job for me.

You do not say which country you are in.

If you in the UK - there is a new product called Profender - that is a round and tapewormer that you put on the back of the neck (like flea drops).

These are only available from your vet as they are a prescription only medication. Easier than tablets...

I know it's no help to you, but couldn't resist posting this, hope you like ;-)

Heh heh!

boo- that was great! had a right laugh!
I always crush them and mix them in a tin of tuna fish, my cat wolfs it down without realising what's in it!

Thanks B00 loved it but as you say, no help whatsoever ..... and CheekyChops, my cat would eat the tuna and find the tiny specks of tablet and spit them out ...

Never tried it (as my cat always gets wormed by the vet - lol - i ain't THAT brave!) but i have heard that crushing them up and mixing them with some butter and then plonking (or if he will keep still for 2 secs) smearing it on the front paws should do the trick as cats will automatically groom themselves of the 'muck'.

Good luck whatever you try!

save up and go to the vet - it is never worth the effort. My George is an indoor cat so I have claws to clip too - I ended up at A&E with a septic bite last year. Cats look so cute and innocent.
We also have ginger cat but a female and she is just the same, shes terrible, we wrap our worming tablets up in sandwich meat like ham or chicken thay usually works for us, but if she dosn't eat it the 1st time then thats it there is no chance of getting it down her. Honey xXx
Hi
We have two cats and they eat ots of wild stuff and we need to worm them often , we use a liquid called Flubenol and you just rub it into the fur on one of the front paws and then Miss Prim will lick it off because they are cats
you can buy a worming liqued that you can mix in with there food, you can buy this from pets at home
