How annoying is it that for about a week now the bbc news has been limited to only 15 mins just as there is a lot to report on concerning the floods etc. If there was an even worse major disaster or terrorist attack (heaven forbid) would films still take preference over the news? I see these short news programmes continue over the new year too!! Anyone else a teeny bit irritated by this?

I prefer the shorter news, usually it just repeats itself every 15 minutes, unless there is some breaking news happening.
What I have noticed is the fact that over the holiday period it has only taken one news presenter to read the news.

Why is has to take two usually I just do not know, is it all in the name of sexual equality?
Half the time, half the number of presenters?

I often think the news is padded out with repetitive reporting just to fill the time.
Baldric, try Freeview 107 - BBC News Channel HD.
Has ITV given up on the local news too?
I think the BBC has given the floods saturation coverage.
Ann...plenty of news on Radio Four....start with the Today Program ! Essential listening in my household.

The PM Program is also very good. And as has been pointed out, there is always BBC 24 hour news, which all of us must now be able to receive from free.

If I had a criticism of the news broadcasts in the last week or so, it would be that while our dreadful flooding is indeed top of the billing, the rest of the world and its news is still going on.
Doesn't bother me in the slightest, it will soon be back to normal.

Nothing on BBC is free, unless one is a pensioner or live abroad.
hold on , did i see someone say the BBC was unbiased !???....haha..no really... please it hurts to laugh so much...the people that put agenda into agenda...

oh god, bbc unbiased...jezza cor bin laden puts brit security first...oh heck im getting some really crazy thoughts now...
Radio 4 is essential when I'm building or plumbing - all the news you could want. I love talk radio.
Must say I don't sit and listen to the TV news on any channel any more - used to be a sacred silence around the 6 o'clock news when i was a kid.
