Hi all

I'm having a small bbq on friday (Its my birthday!!) with some close family/friends.

We're all very big carnivores (sorry to any veggies) so I normally do loads of different meats and a simple salad, pots, coleslaw etc. Normally too much to be honest!

That's the easy bit for me, but I never know what to do for afters - I'd like something to use the dieing coals of the bbq, anyone got any easy ideas? Ideally something not too heavy.... so we can play silly games afterwards!!

Thanks in advance.

1 banana each; tin foil; plain chocolate; double cream; rum. Wrap the banana in the foil. Cook on coals for 20 mins. The skin goes black and sometimes 'opens' - open foil, split in middle, put in grated choc, rum and cream - eat. (caution - the flesh will be very hot at first.)

Use a Mars bar or choc and nuts etc., or whiskey, or a liqueur - orange, cherry, etc. or leave out for the kids.

Fruit kebab - apple, banana, orange, peach ; brush with cranberry jelly and grill so the fruit warms through - not to char. Serve with a citrus cream.

Grilled figs - brush with a mix of honey and lemon and grill for 2 mins

Grilled pineapple wedges - cut the fruit like a piece of melon along the long side, not into rings. Leave the green crown on and brush slice with lemon or lime juice and brown sugar. Grill to warm the p/apple. Cut the fruit into 1" slices down to the skin and serve.

Grilled peaches. Stone peaches and wrap in foil. Top with small piece of chocolate, cinnamon and a drop of honey. Place over coals and heatthrough. Serve with liquer flavoured cream or ice cream. garnish with fresh fruit and a little chopped mint.

I agree with nickmo on the bananas thing but I do mine a bit differently, cut a slit down each banana (with the skins still on) stuff some squares of chocolate inside, wrap them up in tin foil & place on bbq about 20 mintues (the chocolate should be melted & banana softened) then serve with vanilla ice cream delicious!

Have a great birthday!!!
A bag of marshmallows and a few kebab sticks/skewers. The trick is to get them toasted but not burnt!

Hi all

Thanks for all the suggestions, I did some fruit kebabs and a couple of the bananna things.

They went down very well, but think I did too much meat as most peeps couldn't manage much dessert!

Thanks a lot for your suggestions, will give some of the other ones a try over the summer.

Going to bed now, as I'm very squiffy. Thanks all.
