Does anyone else do a Focus / Astra sized car with a heated windscreen, apart from Ford?

I would really love to have a heated screen, but am not a Ford fan.

Question Author
That's interesting Meg, that Honda have heated windscreens.
Question Author
Are you sure?

No mention of it on the Honda website,
Hopkirk, I believe some BMW Mini's have an heated windscreen ( visibility pack ).
Question Author
Sorry Tony, that's a girl's car.
Definitely heated rear windscreen, OH says the front may just be a de-misting thing. It's a 3 year old 1.4 automatic.
Question Author
Yes, I think OH is right Meg.

I do a lot of very early starts and have real problems getting good vision until the engine is really pumping heat.

A screen with a heating element has got to be the way to go, and it is surprising to me that other manufacturers have let Ford keep the monopoly on this for so long.
I have a Mondeo cdti and love the heated front screen. A blessing on freezing mornings. The air con is excellent as well, with a boost control that will clear the front door windows and the windscreen in seconds when you get that condensation problem in certain conditions, mainly when you get into the car after being in the rain and having wet clothes. The heated seats are brilliant as well.
Question Author
I can't bear heated seats - horrible.

I drive lorries and it is very easy to knock the switch to on as you climb in.
Had a google around, looks like the Ford Patent expired sometime in 2013, so will probably see a lot more manufacturers putting them in now. Was probably too late for most 2014 cars. Some like Land Rover or had a tie in to Ford were given a license.
Question Author
Thanks Ubasses.

I guess Vauxhall will put them in the Astra soon, which is a car I like.
Unfortunately I can't afford to buy new, so I may have some wait.
tony @ 20;23...she's had the Tekna 1.6 petrol....its the only one with an auto box and she wanted the auto because she's recovering from a broken wrist.
Ah right, many gadgets then BRIGHT SPARK. Hope she enjoys it.
Skoda used to, rear windscreens, to keep your hands warm while you pushed them.....
DT....now they just have a smokescreen at the rear :-)
Isn't technology wonderful, B-S?
I would be lost these days, without the quickclear windscreen in my Fiesta.

Its such a simple solution to the problem of misting up, I an amazed all car makers don't use it as standard.

By the way Hoppy...if you haven't driven a Ford for a while, have a test drive in a Fiesta.....it handles better than most cars I have owned.

It also has Hill-Start Assist, to help in hills starts.....another feature I would miss if it wasn't there.
Mikey..I remember a few years back when 'hill start assist', was a must to get Fords going in cold weather :-)
Question Author
I own a Fiesta Mikey, which the wife drives.

I don't like it.
Question Author
Ours is an 'Edge' model which doesn't come with luxuries like heated screen, hill start or little bits of chrome trim.

It does come with four wheels and an engine though.
