I live in Spain and will be driving in France later this year. I have been told I will need to take a breathaliser with me. Does anyone know where I can buy one ? Thanks in advance.

You don't need a breathaliser. If you take a breathaliser with you you will be the only person in France with one. Rumour has it that the main supplier of breathalisers was a chum of Sarkozy. When he got chucked out the need for breathalisers went with him. I live in France by the way so I am up to date on this issue.

You can buy there here:

But the site also points out, that there is no fine for not having one.

You will need safety vests for all passengers by the way.
We bought one from a French supermarket for 2 or 3 Euros when they first were required. It's out of date now but I've no plans to replace it. Your chance of being stopped and asked for it are minimal unless you look, or behave like you are, drunk. I wouldn't bother.

Thanks all for your input.Very helpful.
I thought you only had to carry one hi-viz garment which the driver can access without getting out of the car. Am I wrong?
As far as I understand it, you have to carry one vest for each passenger. Anyone getting out of the car on a road or hard-shoulder must be wearing one as they leave the car.
