Over the last couple of weeks,we have been reading about the tragic and terrible murder of lawyer,Tom ap Rhys Pryce. With reading about his death,I am a bit intrigued on what the ap stands for in his name.

ap Rhys, I think, has normally come down into English as Price or Preece (and ap Evan as Bevan, and so on), so his middle name was the same as his surname except in different languages.

Thanks for both posting and answering that question. I also wondered, but given the tragic events, didn't feel it was my place/anywhere near sensitive to ask.

I sincerely hope the culprits are locked up for a long time - an absolute waste of a life.
