That's complex, you would not be working as you would still be off sick, are they putting pressure on you from work to resign?

er what on earth in this post leads you to think that Gentle is an asylum seeker?

No, I had a breakdown and am still on ESA. I dont think I am going to manage to go back as I am still on medication and have been diagnosed with Cyclothymia, which is like BiPolar disorder.
what do you mean by that comment pussy? If someone is in receipt of long term ESA due to sickness they are entitled to it.

I hope PUSSY never needs to claim. Its so demeaning. I have lived in England all my life and have paid my dues. I am 47, English and proud of it! I didnt ask to be seriously ill.
My daughter is in the exact same situation as yourself GG666, after 6 months the HR head visited her after the doctor sent a report saying he could not give a definate date for her return to work, my daughter resigned and claimed ESA, 5 months later she was given a 12 month sick note from the NHS doctor the DWP sent her to. I can't see you losing your ESA if you are no longer being paid anything by your employer but i would ask the DWP what the inmplications would be if you resigned due to long term illness. Oh and good luck, I've seen my daughter in abject despair for no other reason than she had lost a phone charger. It's very dabilitating
Question Author
Thankyou very much for your understanding. I hope your daughter gets well soon. Its an awful condition and we are always judged before people know the real pain it causes.
OK, I dunno what ESA is but if you have a job and can't do it, what about medical retirement.

I'm a postman (technically) but I have problems that mean I can no longer work as a postman, so I am going down that route.
pussy is gonk...............ignore him.
He was trying to be amusing by comparing any monies you rightly receive with supposed 'free handouts' given to asylum seekers.

He has no self-edit facility and will bounce onto a thread and post inappropriate remarks whenever he sees fit.

He means no insult to you, so don't concern yourself, please.

Employment Support Allowance replaced Incapacity Benefit back in October 2008 postdog. It also is a benefit people who are self enmployed but out of woirk can claim.
