I dont think so.
Unless it was a long time ago (eg 15 years) he's unlikely to get a visa.

Wat if you do the waiver thing and tick no? Dishonest i know but it seems some have got away with this?? (Or should I just go on my own??)
Thanks for your help btw!
In the current climate, not disclosing any information on entry to the US will get you arrested followed by a deportation if they feel like it.

You have to give the US your fingerprints when entering the country so they will find any criminal records very easily.

Either go somewhere else or leave him behind
The US authorities have no direct access to UK criminal records (including the finger print database). They only know about specific individuals where the UK has passed relevant information on. It's likely that your boyfriend would be able to enter the USA (illegally) under the Visa Waiver Program. (One AB contributor has stated that he's got Class A drug convictions and has entered the USA several times with no problems).

As others have stated, it's unlikely that your boyfriend would get a visa if he applied for one but, as long he's prepared to accept a small element of risk, he'd probably get in under the Visa Waiver Program.

Boil it down to the real question. 'X is/was a criminal, can X now illegally enter the US and get away with it?'
Got to ask yourself, Is it worth the risk being dishonest??
If your boyfriend gets caught out they, (US Homeland Security) as sure as God made little apples, won't let him back in again, EVER!
